Crestchic load banks to showcase load testing solutions at Data Centre World

Crestchic Loadbanks will be showcasing its load testing solutions at Data Centre World, which takes place 11-12 March 2020 at Excel, London.

Billed as an unmissable global event for everyone involved in running and building data centres, Data Centre World attracted 20,000 delegates from 93 countries in 2019, covering subjects such as design and build, innovation, thermal management & cooling, power and fuel and the impact of 5G. As one of the leading specialists in load bank manufacturing and testing solutions, Crestchic is seeing hugely increased demand from data centres.

Paul Brickman, Sales and Marketing Director at Crestchic, explains: “Reliability is absolutely crucial for data centres. Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS) are universally accepted as a piece of critical business infrastructure, acting as a bridge between the data centre and the backup generator and providing instantaneous power in the event of a mains failure. However, when power is mission-critical, testing back-up power systems can make all the difference to whether they operate effectively when called upon. We’re seeing an increase in demand for load banks from all over the world - a significant proportion is from data centres which need to regularly test their back-up power to ensure that there is no downtime if a power outage occurs.”

As well as being on hand to explore the challenge of continuous uptime and the need for regular testing of back-up power solutions, the company will also be showcasing its specialist data centre load bank trailers. This new addition to the Crestchic product range has been launched to meet the growing demand for self-contained, portable testing solutions which are suitable to multi-generator needs.

With a history dating back almost 40 years, Crestchic offers extensive expertise and products options, from standard size resistive and reactive load banks to custom-designed and built solutions. Our experts will be available on stand D1070, where they are happy to offer visitors advice on testing regimes, load bank technology and more.

Paul adds, “With data centre downtime costing thousands of dollars per minute and potentially resulting in critical data breaches, operators must ensure that they have back-up plans in place. Yet, despite reports of outages being costly and often business-critical, data from the Uptime Institute in 2019 indicated that one-third of all data centres suffered from downtime, with power outages the main cause. We’re keen to talk to anyone who is worried about the impact of power outages, the importance of regular testing or heat load testing for critical air conditioning systems. Data Centre World provides an unrivalled opportunity to meet end-users, our customers, contractors and consultants and have these important conversations face to face.”

Crestchic load banks and load testing solutions are primarily sold and rented to customers operating in the oil and gas, marine, data centre and power generation sectors. The company manufactures a wide range of AC and DC load banks for both resistive only and resistive-reactive applications. Load banks vary in size from 30kW to 6000kVA and are designed to operate a 3 phase, 50 or 60Hz. The larger units are containerised and transportable and can be linked together to provide loads of 50MVA and above.
