Tintri has announced what it says is the first ever Tintri vSphere Web Client Plugin to provide integrated VM-aware management in the VMware vSphere Web Client interface. It enables storage and server administrators to leverage Tintri VM-aware capabilities from native VMware tools to further simplify day-to-day management of large virtual environments.

“The Tintri vSphere Web Client Plugin is another major step in furthering Tintri VMstore integration with the VMware ecosystem. Customers can continue to use the familiar and native vSphere Web Client interfaces while reaping the benefits of Tintri VMstore such as per-VM data management and end-to-end latency visualisation – all directly from within VMware vCenter interface,” said Saradhi Sreegiriraju, Senior Director of Product Management at Tintri.

Key features of the Tintri vSphere Web Client Plugin include centralised VMstore monitoring and management and per-VM data management abilities such as snapshots, clones and replication. Administrators can add VMstore systems into vCenter in a matter of seconds and incrementally scale by adding additional VMstores as necessary and manage them all centrally from VMware vCenter.

Tintri vSphere Web Client Plugin provides VMstore dashboard information including performance and space gauges and top performance and capacity changer VMs in the vCenter interface. VMstore alert monitoring and management is also integrated with the vCenter interface as is the ability to control VMstore level settings, such as default snapshot schedules.

Per-VM data management allows administrators to create Tintri space and performance efficient snapshots and clones as well as control WAN efficient replication from within the vCenter interface. End-to-end per-VM latency breakdown provides the ability to instantly identify performance hot spots at the hypervisor, network and storage level with comprehensive performance visualisation.

To accompany the vSphere Web Client Plugin, Tintri also announced that it has achieved VMware certification for its vStorage API for Array Integration (VAAI) Plugin for the Tintri T600 series systems. All Tintri VMstore systems are certified with the latest vSphere releases including vSphere 5.5. Full VAAI support enables IT operations teams to leverage native Tintri per-VM cloning seamlessly from VMware vCenter or VMware vCloud Director. Ability to create space and performance efficient clones from VMware vCenter using Tintri VAAI Plugin significantly reduces provisioning time and complexity.
