Netcall's technologies automate data migrations for Transport for London

Transport for London employs low-code and robotic automation to boost efficiency and governance.

Transport for London (TfL) is redefining its approach to digital services with Netcall's low-code and robotic process automation (RPA) technologies. By integrating the Liberty platform into their workflow, TfL has improved governance for product approvals and migrated an impressive number of legacy engineering files, saving over 2,000 hours of manual work.

This transformation has resulted in improved data accuracy, swift migration from legacy systems, and stands as a model of how digital innovation can lead to significant efficiency improvements within the public sector.

Previously, TfL struggled with an unreliable product management system plagued by crashes and a lack of audit trails. In response, a fresh Product Information Register (PIR) was developed using Netcall's Liberty Create low-code platform. Inspired by Network Rail's system, the PIR offers a secure platform for product application and review, certificate generation, and managing data organisation-wide.

The PIR's audit trail ensures compliance with S1011 standards and strengthens confidence in product assessments. "The solution has improved efficiency, collaboration and compliance while creating opportunities for future enhancements and information sharing across the industry," remarked Andy Gordon.

Separately, faced with extracting over 20,000 critical files from an unstable system, TfL utilised Liberty RPA. By simulating user interactions, the team extracted files while preserving metadata—all performed on virtual machines without disruption.

This method eliminated substantial manual work while maintaining continuity and preventing downtime. "The Liberty RPA migration has transformed what was once Transport for London's biggest concern into a non-issue," Gordon added.
