Identity fraud continues to affect businesses across Europe, while regulatory requirements are becoming more stringent. In response, Zenoo has added Signicat’s ReadID technology to its Marketplace, a no-code orchestration platform. The integration enables businesses to verify passports and identity documents by reading the embedded chip, supporting compliance with the EU’s forthcoming Anti-Money Laundering Regulation (AMLR).
Businesses are facing increasing pressure to meet security requirements while maintaining effective customer experiences. Fraud methods are becoming more sophisticated, and regulatory oversight is intensifying. Signicat’s “The Battle in the Dark” report states that identity fraud and its prevention measures can put up to 22 percent of annual revenue at risk. As AMLR introduces stricter identity verification requirements, organisations are assessing solutions that balance security controls with operational efficiency.
With ReadID available through Zenoo’s platform, users can verify their identity by tapping a government-issued document, such as a passport, against a smartphone. Using Near Field Communication (NFC), the technology reads the document’s chip and cryptographically verifies its authenticity within seconds. This process is designed to detect forged or tampered documents and address emerging fraud techniques, including those enabled by generative AI.

ReadID uses a smartphone’s NFC capability to authenticate ePassports and other chipped identity documents, including ID cards and residence permits. The technology is already used in Europe’s financial sector and by government organisations. According to Signicat, it has recorded zero false accepts across millions of high-risk transactions.

The partnership also extends Signicat’s presence into additional verticals, including gaming and luxury e-commerce, through Zenoo’s Marketplace, while providing Zenoo customers with access to NFC-based identity verification technology to support global compliance requirements.
