Nokia partners with Telecom Italia to enhance 5G network

Nokia secures a three-year deal with Telecom Italia to expand Italy's 5G network, incorporating AI and energy-efficient solutions.

Nokia has clinched a landmark three-year deal with Telecom Italia (TIM) aimed at expanding and modernising its 5G network coverage and capacity. This partnership results from a competitive tender process, paving the way for enhanced connectivity across Italy.

Covering new regions, the agreement extends beyond Nokia's existing footprint and supports TIM's ambition to tackle the digital divide by delivering fast broadband to smaller towns and rural areas. The deployment will be underpinned by Nokia's cutting-edge, energy-efficient, AI-powered product portfolio, aligning with sustainability goals.

Nokia's AirScale Radio Access Network (RAN) portfolio will bolster TIM's environmental targets, minimising ecological impacts. The latest Habrok 32 Massive MIMO radios and the Pandion FDD multi-band remote radio heads will provide extensive coverage, tailored for diverse deployment scenarios. Additionally, Nokia's Lodos baseband card offers enhanced scalability, improving energy consumption.

Nokia's ReefShark System-on-Chip technology is set to boost the network's performance and reliability, delivering an optimal 5G experience. The inclusion of the AI-powered MantaRay SON solution will optimise network performance through automation, ensuring superior quality for users.

The agreement further explores AI-driven services, leveraging Nokia's comprehensive deployment, maintenance, and support offerings to enhance safety and operational efficiency. Such endeavours position Nokia as a key player in Italy's digital infrastructure enhancement.
