Infineon and Delta forge ahead with power modules for AI data centres

Infineon and Delta enhance their collaboration, focusing on cutting-edge high-density power modules for AI data centres.

Infineon Technologies AG has announced an expansion in its collaboration with Delta Electronics to develop advanced high-density power modules. These modules aim to transform vertical power delivery (VPD) to AI processors in hyperscale data centres.

The partnership utilises Infineon's ultra-thin silicon chip technology alongside Delta's pioneering power module design, creating ultra-efficient modules. This collaboration significantly cuts carbon emissions, with projected savings of 150 tons of CO2 per rack over a three-year lifetime. To put this in perspective, such savings are akin to the annual emissions of 4,000 households.

“Our collaboration has resulted in the development of highly advanced VPD modules, which allows us to provide unparalleled power efficiency, reliability, and scalability for our customers,” said Ares Chen, Delta’s Vice President and General Manager of its Power and System Business Group. “We're proud to be playing a key role in fostering energy conservation in the hyperscale data centre power infrastructure ecosystem, and look forward to realising significant contribution for the entire industry through our joint innovation.”

Delta harnesses Infineon's 90 A OptiMOS™ power-stage solution, propelling VPD modules to new heights. Vertical power delivery transforms the power delivery network, further enabling the system to achieve increased efficiency by conserving space and generating less heat.

As AI technologies progress, the demand on data centres is rapidly escalating. Power delivery solutions must rise to the occasion, supporting burgeoning AI training demands whilst adapting to tightly-packed xPUs, which push IT rack densities further.
