Ocorian unlocks 50 percent more data efficiency with Fivetran

Fivetran accelerates global financial services provider’s move to the cloud; transforms reporting and revenue operations.

Fivetran has accelerated data-driven growth for Ocorian, a market leader in asset servicing for private markets and corporate and fiduciary administration. Fivetran automates the ingestion of more than 5 million rows of data each month from Ocorian’s on-premise systems and tools into its new cloud data lakehouse, reducing data engineering workloads by 30 percent.

Ocorian is a specialist global provider of fund and corporate administration services and regulatory solutions to financial institutions, asset managers, corporates and high net-worth individuals. Headquartered in Jersey, its more than 1,800-strong team manages over 15,000 structures on behalf of more than 8,000 clients globally.

Following a period of rapid expansion – driven by both organic growth and acquisitions – Ocorian needed a fully-integrated enterprise solution to centralise data from multiple systems. Existing data engineering processes suffered from scalability and performance issues, forcing teams to spend vast resources diagnosing issues and writing custom code to access the data. Backed by a successful proof-of-concept project and a strong endorsement from its private equity parent company, Ocorian selected Fivetran to power data movement at the core of its modern data stack, comprising Microsoft Fabric, dbt Labs, and Power BI.

With Fivetran, Ocorian was able to integrate data from disparate sources like Salesforce and Xero in minutes, and replaced custom pipelines that previously took weeks to build. Fivetran’s change data capture technology ensures only changed records are ingested from a number of Ocorian’s on-premises SQL servers – reducing unnecessary consumption, cutting costs, and eliminating downtime issues that occurred due to capacity constraints.

“Fivetran enabled us to consolidate and radically simplify our data operations, giving us complete trust in our insights and the confidence to make impactful business decisions faster,” said Conor Cullen, Head of Data Engineering at Ocorian. “Fivetran’s enterprise-grade capabilities, combined with its ease of use, agility, and outstanding customer support, provide an unparalleled productivity boost, improving our efficiency by roughly 50 percent compared to building bespoke connectors. With Fivetran now a core part of our tech stack, we’ve unlocked scalability and positioned ourselves for sustained growth.”

Ocorian’s new data pipelines require no coding and automatically adapt to changes in source systems, enabling internal teams to analyse fast-growing data volumes at scale, increase the frequency of reporting as needed, and gain end-to-end visibility into revenue operations. Following the success of integrating initial data sources, Ocorian now plans to expand its use of Fivetran data connectors and tap into the Fivetran Partner Program to further accelerate adoption.

“Ocorian is a great example of how quickly and effectively organisations can extract value from their insights by modernising their data infrastructures,” said Simon Quinton, General Manager for EMEA at Fivetran. “As a fast-moving enterprise and a keen AI adopter, Ocorian needs accurate and reliable data feeding its systems. By migrating its traditional on-premises track to the cloud and taking advantage of Fivetran’s change data capture technology, Ocorian can accelerate data delivery without sacrificing data quality or security – setting it up for long-term success.”
