This follows Proweb completing a technology refresh earlier this year which included a review of its current and future colocation requirements. The company now has easy access to a fully secure 24x7 data centre with dual connectivity. A further benefit is a significant reduction in colocation, connectivity and power costs compared to its previous colocation provider.
Founded in 1994, Proweb is an established internet services provider (ISP) which also offers a wide range of web design, content management and cybersecurity services to the newspaper industry. Learning from their experiences during the Covid pandemic, Proweb recognised that connectivity and remote access to both their main IT infrastructure and backup site was essential to business continuity - including a comprehensive colocation and connectivity solution to reduce management overhead.
Richard Drage, Managing Director of Proweb said, “From our first contact with Host-IT the whole onboarding process was executed flawlessly. Their team invested considerable time and effort in understanding our requirement ensuring when we went to site to install our IT equipment everything was set up and ready to go. It only took 15 minutes to install the equipment and for it to go live.”
Added Andrew Willis, Managing Director of Host-IT: “In selecting Host-IT’s newly opened datacentre in Birmingham, Proweb can be assured of the very best data centre services and connectivity for meeting their backup and DR needs.
“We are delighted to have won our first customer for our Birmingham data centre so quickly. This reaffirms our recent decision to expand Host-IT’s data centre footprint beyond Milton Keynes and we expect to open more sites later this year and next as demand for rack space and server leasing continues to grow.”
Host-IT’s new facility is strategically located at Proximity Data Centres’ secure ISO 27001, Tier 3 central Birmingham campus, close to the major fibre networks traversing the UK and various regional fibre providers. There is currently 6MW of IT power available to site with the potential to increase this to 12MW.
