Qumulo expands commitment to the oil and gas exploration community

Qumulo, pioneer of hybrid cloud file storage, has joined The Open Group Open Subsurface Data Universe (OSDU) Forum.

As innovative organisations in the oil and gas exploration industry seek to take advantage of the cloud, they are choosing technology providers in their journey that can serve as true, customer-focused partners. Qumulo is committed to helping the oil and gas exploration community use the new tools, workflows and advantages that can only be found by leveraging the cloud.

A collaborative group of IT specialists from oil and gas operators, cloud services companies, software developers, and academic institutions, the OSDU Forum aims to develop a standard data platform that will unify exploration, development and wells data across the subsurface community. By enabling secure, reliable, global, and performant access to all subsurface data, the OSDU data platform will accelerate the deployment of emerging digital solutions to support better decision-making. This will result in faster delivery of capabilities and reduce the implementation and lifecycle costs across the subsurface community.

“Qumulo is excited to participate in the OSDU Forum, and enable oil and gas operators to modernise their cloud-based file storage infrastructure,” said Ben Gitenstein, Vice President of Product Management at Qumulo. “Subsurface exploration workflows utilise incredible amounts of complex file data. Qumulo’s unique ability to deliver a complete cloud file storage solution, that provides visibility into that data, will help the industry to find more efficient, scalable and dynamic ways to operate.”

“We are excited to welcome Qumulo to The Open Group Open Subsurface Data Universe™ Forum,” said Forum Director, Dr. Michelle Supper. “As more organisations join this new Forum, including operators, suppliers, and academic institutions, we are set to make significant headway in creating and promoting technology standards, and using new digital technologies and business best practices to transform the way we store, share, and analyse subsurface data. I look forward to seeing future contributions from Qumulo, particularly given the company’s expertise in cloud and data storage.”
