This augmentation will offer the benefits of standardization including more uniform, faster processes between companies in the Group, helping to reduce risk and improve productivity. Salvagnini expects some sites to see a potential acceleration of workflow of up to 30%.

The Salvagnini Group, which is based in Sarego (VI), Italy, designs and manufactures systems and machines for processing sheet metal.  Spanning 23 sites across the globe, including six manufacturing plants and a network of service and spare part businesses, the Group has a strategy of increasing its flexibility and speed in order to help customers realize the maximum return on their investment.

As part of the Infor Xi stack, Infor Ming.le™ will serve as the basis of workflows for a variety of roles within the Group. Infor Document Management (IDM) will also be deployed to enable Salvagnini staff fast access to invoices and documentation within the new interface. Salvagnini also plans to adopt Infor ION to integrate external applications and automate transactions between companies.

Infor Xi was chosen based on its extensibility and because it offered a solution that could satisfy future requirements without extensive customization.  Salvagnini also chose Xi due to its intuitive user interface and ability to help standardize and automate processes via a phased approach.

“Our smaller, service companies are typically less familiar with ERP, so the improved interface and intuitive workflow will be critical,” said Paolo Morellini, Group CIO, Salvagnini Group.  “Throughout our deployment we are bringing together different ways of working with how we want things to be done in the future.  We have to fuse our drive for standardization with the previous user experience across the companies.  Given that we are so multinational, this experience changes in each company in the group so there is no standard expectation.  This is why it is so important that the interface is easy and simple for the users to pick up and for our integration to be implemented quickly.”

“Industrial groups such as Salvagnini face a wide variety of issues across the different types of companies that they incorporate,” said Bruno Pagani, sales director for Italy, Infor.  “The good news is that this opens up a lot of opportunity to find where consistency and standard processes can improve productivity and reduce risk.  It is this that leads to such substantial workflow improvements and the ability to drastically improve productivity.”
