Centrica, the leading international energy and services firm, with well-known customer brands British Gas, DynoRod and Direct Energy, has chosen Microsoft as a strategic partner to help digitally transform its IT operations by moving to the Microsoft Cloud.
Everything Centrica does is focused on satisfying the changing needs of its customers.  This approach within the utilities industry is pioneering, and, will see Centrica move the majority of its existing UK on-premise data centre to Microsoft’s Azure NextGen Data Centre and adopt cloud-based services from Microsoft such as Office 365 and Dynamics 365 to empower its employees.
Mike Young, Centrica’s Global Chief Information Officer said, “Microsoft is a partnership that goes beyond technology.  Microsoft is investing time supporting us to realise our digital transformation ambitions, offering advice and guidance when we need it. Working with Microsoft will accelerate our Digital Workplace initiative; empower our global workforce with Office 365; and, modernise field service (within DynoRod) using Dynamics 365. Moving our on-premises data centre to Microsoft Azure is one of a number of foundational steps we are taking at Centrica to build a truly digital business for the benefit of our customers.”
Removing the traditional IT constraints and laying the foundations for its digital transformation strategy will provide Centrica with the agility and speed to better engage its customers, transform its offerings, optimise its operations, and empower its employees. David Trice, Centrica’s Chief Technology Officer said:  "Microsoft's investment in the enterprise, with the maturity of its security, controls and ability to handle mission critical workloads is key. Microsoft is able to share its own learnings and journey from implementing public cloud, and this gives us the confidence that Microsoft is the right partner."
“Microsoft is proud to work with Centrica to accelerate its digital transformation,” said Cindy Rose, Microsoft’s UK CEO. “With world-class cloud offerings such as Microsoft Azure, Office 365 and Dynamics 365, we are putting innovation at the heart of our efforts to help Centrica add considerable value to its employees and customers.”
