Tech Data joins Cloud Industry Forum

Technology distributor demonstrates its commitment to standards and transparency in the cloud marketplace.

Tech Data, one of the leading UK distributors of IT, communications and consumer electronics products and services has joined the Cloud Industry Forum (CIF), underlining its commitment to supporting and promoting high standards of cloud services delivery by partners and suppliers.

As one of the world’s largest IT distributors, Tech Data is focused on meeting the specific needs of its customers, whether they address the SMB, corporate, consumer or public sector markets. The company has made significant investments and moved rapidly into the cloud marketplace, providing resellers with the enablement, expertise and value added services that they need to develop their cloud capabilities.

Its dedicated Tech Data Cloud business unit provides a wide range of solutions and services that enable partners to easily access, power and master multi-vendor cloud services and offer them as part of hybrid or pure cloud services propositions.

The Cloud Industry Forum is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to improve standards and education in the cloud industry. CIF provides transparency through certification to a Code of Practice to endorse credible providers of cloud services and, through its Professional CIF Membership scheme, assists end users in determining the core information necessary to enable them to adopt such services with confidence.

Andy Gass, Managing Director, UK and Ireland, Tech Data, stated: “Our reseller community is central to our Cloud proposition and we pride ourselves on delivering the resources and tools they need to succeed. Critical to this is our drive to expand cloud sales opportunities for our customers and enabling them to sell combined services and directly provision, manage and support end users.

“There is no doubt from the latest Cloud adoption levels that this is a market set for continued growth. We recognise that the Cloud Industry Forum has been leading the charge for better practices in the delivery of cloud services. Its Code of Practice is a ground-breaking initiative offering end users the transparency and security they need when taking the decision to migrate to the cloud, and an initiative such as this is something we can support and reflects our values and commitment.”

Alex Hilton, CEO of the Cloud Industry Forum added: “We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Tech Data. It is clearly fully committed to aiding cloud service adoption and serves an important role in the industry by helping the supply chain understand, sell and support cloud solutions. There is a clear opportunity in the market for trusted cloud brokers, and I have no doubt that Tech Data will be an active participant in championing cloud services. We look forward to working with them closely to increase awareness among resellers and end users of trusted cloud services to raise confidence in the industry.”
