Revolutionising digital advertising

Hortonworks has further expanded its European customer base with the addition of Billy Mobile, the fast-growing mobile marketing company. The company will use Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP™) for data collection, processing and analysis with significantly more flexibility, scale and reliability than has previously been possible. By partnering with Hortonworks, Billy Mobile is positioned for continuous growth by leveraging Big Data to successfully serve the demanding telco and advertising markets.

Billy Mobile bridges the gap between publishers and advertisers, helping publishers monetize their assets and opening up the app ecosystem to carriers. The company offers consumer behaviour insights based on user profiles, behaviours, trends and feedback, enabling its customers to better understand where to route visitors and offer tailored content and promotions. Billy Mobile selected HDP because it must process millions of transactions very quickly while supporting exponential data growth. This data needs to be manipulated with great flexibility and must be up-to-date so the company can provide the best possible support to its customers.

“We have built our business model around the core belief that mobile is revolutionising the Internet at an unprecedented speed and scale. Hortonworks and Apache Hadoop have been selected to help us keep ahead of that Internet revolution curve,” explained Geoffrey Cleaves, business intelligence manager, Billy Mobile. “Right from the very start we were impressed by Hortonworks, from initial local support through to the fully open source, reliable, cost-effective HDP platform we have now deployed.”

Billy Mobile will use HDP, including Apache Kafka to provide high quality messaging, Apache Storm to provide real-time data processing capabilities and Apache Hive to deliver the interactive visualizations that will enable Billy Mobile to benefit from the intelligence and insight trapped in the data.

“Billy Mobile’s business depends on its ability to make fast decisions empowered by big data. Hortonworks looks forward to supporting the growth of Billy Mobile’s business by delivering the critical data insights it needs to maintain a higher level of service and support for customers,” said Andy Leaver, vice president of international operations, Hortonworks.
