Tech Data outlines Channel Cloud strategy

Executive Vice President Cloud Computing and Worldwide Chief Information Officer John Tonnison sets out company’s strategy that enables partners to access, power and master cloud services and transform their businesses.

Tech Data Europe set out its strategy for leading the way in channel cloud development to key vendors, service providers, resellers and managed services provider partners from all over the continent at its European Cloud Summit in Barcelona recently.

Around 200 delegates heard John Tonnison, Tech Data’s Executive Vice President Cloud Computing and Worldwide Chief Information Officer, deliver the opening plenary alongside Reza Honarmand, Vice President Software and Cloud Europe, who explained how Tech Data is enabling partners to access, power and master cloud services and solutions.

There was also a keynote presentation on partner business transformation by David Ednie, President and CIO, SalesChannel Europe and a renowned authority on the cloud services market. Attendees then attended a series of breakout sessions hosted by Microsoft, IBM, Cisco and HP, as well as Tech Data.

Feedback from the event was extremely positive. Ivan Verdier, Group Partner Management Director, Computacenter Plc, said: “This was a really useful and well-structured event and Tech Data deserves a lot of credit for taking the time and making the investment to keep us and all its industry partners informed, not only on its own strategy, but also on the current state of the market’s evolution.  The presentations and breakouts provided us with some really useful insights and once again, underlined the strength of Tech Data and the leadership position the company is taking in the ongoing development of the cloud channel.”

David Smith, General Manager Worldwide SMB Sales at Microsoft, stated:  “For over 25 years, Tech Data has been an innovative partner of Microsoft and I am excited about the work we are doing together in this transformation.  I have high confidence that Tech Data can provide its cloud community with the platforms and tools they need to be successful in this cloud journey. Whether it’s building a hybrid cloud practice, accelerating in cloud, or even a reseller in need of a white-label solution, in the end it comes down to people and I could not be more proud of the teams in place to do this.”

Reza Honarmand, Vice President of Software and Cloud Europe at Tech Data, stated: “The Tech Data Cloud Summit really underlined Tech Data’s credentials as the cloud leader within distribution in Europe and gave our reseller, service provider and vendor partners with a clear, 360-degree view of our strategy. Cloud services adoption is accelerating and is now standard part of every new IT investment decision.  Speaking to our resellers at the event, it is clear that there is a common understanding amongst the community for a need to transform to meet this demand. Tech Data Cloud provides them with access to a complete set of resources that will enable all types of partners to transform their business wherever they are on their journey to provide cloud services.”
