FortyCloud joins forces with Numergy

New partnership allows Numergy customers to deploy enhanced layer of security safeguards, enabling them to turn their public clouds private.

FortyCloud, a pioneer in network Security-as-a-Service for the cloud, has announced a partnership with Numergy, a leading public cloud services provider based in Paris. As part of the new partnership, Numergy customers can now take advantage of FortyCloud’s first-of-a-kind offering that bundles all core security components (encryption, firewall, VPN, access control, identity management, etc.) into a single, integrated product delivered as Software-as-a-Service. By leveraging FortyCloud’s comprehensive, end-to-end solution, Numergy customers can secure their public cloud deployments in a faster, more automated way.

FortyCloud offers an innovative approach that blends software defined networking (SDN) and software defined security (SDS) technologies. This unique approach serves to isolate and interconnect cloud deployments using a distinct “overlay network.” By harnessing FortyCloud’s overlay network, Numergy customers can build and control their own secure, flexible, and scalable virtual private cloud network over any, or over multiple, cloud infrastructure platforms as well as data centers. Furthermore, FortyCloud has abstracted complicated security tasks and automated them, delivering immense scaling capabilities. Through an intuitive UI, system admins, networking and security engineers can rapidly deploy, scale, control and monitor a secure cloud network in real-time.

According to Forrester Research, the revelation of the NSA’s surveillance program (a.k.a. PRISM) has served as a wake-up call for many organizations to revisit the security and privacy policies of their cloud infrastructure providers. In particular, many organizations are now reconsidering cloud providers and opting for a geographic local to their country of origin (and are governed by ‘familiar’ privacy laws).

Many new local cloud providers are surfacing that can offer an alternative to big, global, U.S.-based cloud providers. This is prevalent in the European Union, where in some cases, the local cloud providers, such as Numergy, are also supported by government funding. In a survey of European IT professionals conducted in May of 2014, 47% believe their data is more secure contained in European-based clouds versus US-based clouds, and 62% stated that using a European-based cloud is easier from a regulatory and compliance perspective.

“We’re very excited to team up with Numergy. This partnership will enable us to broaden our reach into the European cloud market, where we know that security is of utmost concern to both cloud providers and their business customers,” stated Amit Cohen, co-founder and CEO of FortyCloud. “Leveraging FortyCloud’s distinct solution, Numergy can further enhance and extend added security safeguards that it is able to provide to its cloud customers.”

The FortyCloud Solution provides comprehensive IT security elements, including AAA (Authorization, Authentication, Audit), a policy-based network firewall, encryption of data-in-transit, logs and audit trails. It also offers identity-based network access and control, which ensures stronger security and a unified behavior across an organization's on-premise and cloud deployments. With just a few clicks, Numergy customers can now introduce new security policies at a granular level, including access control and connectivity.
