Telefonica Global Technology selects HP

HP Enterprise Applications Services will help increase customer retention for Telefonica companies across Europe and Latin America.

Hewlett-Packard has been selected by Telefónica Global Technology (TGT) to increase customer retention for Telefónica companies in 24 countries in Europe and Latin America by upgrading the company’s global applications environment.

With more than 315 million customers, Telefónica is one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world. Through its best-in-class mobile, fixed and broadband networks, and an innovative portfolio of digital solutions, Telefónica is transforming itself into a ‘Digital Telco’ that will be even better placed to meet the needs of its customers and capture new revenue growth.

“Updating our global applications environment is the most important and most strategic project for TGT in 2014,” says Juan Pedro Gravel, CEO, Telefonica Global Technologies. “What makes it more complex is that we also need to establish a methodology for future updates. We selected HP, not only because of our strong existing relationship, but because of the company’s experience and expertise in large-scale implementations.”

HP Enterprise Applications Services will enable TGT to improve customer services for Telefónica by increasing the functionality of its global systems without disrupting normal business processes. Expert consultants from HP Madrid and León will review Telefónica’s existing processes and implement improvements using a new methodology to establish security, reliability and flexibility for future updates. Services will be provided by HP from Telefónica in Madrid to the company’s worldwide offices.

The project includes migration to SAP ECC 6.0 and rollout of SAP Business Warehouse, Process Integrator, Supplier Relationship Management, and Revenue Management and Contract Accounting modules.

“TGT was looking for a partner with technical quality and the flexibility to adapt to continuous changes," says Paco Armesto, applications and consulting manager, HP. “HP’s experience will enable TGT to manage the increasing complexity of its applications and improve service availability.”
