TE Connectivity has announced the addition of QR code functionality within its Quareo ICM Mobile application that will enable network managers to apply the software’s remote work order management capability to existing networks for the first time.
The Quareo physical layer management system gives network managers unparalleled visibility and control of the physical layer of the network. Now, with ICM Mobile’s new QR code functionality, work orders for existing networks can be executed with minimum risk and maximum efficiency. Deploying the QR codes onto the existing network assets makes them visible to the ICM Mobile app via a mobile device. Technicians receive visual work order direction through their mobile device and a two-way communication is enabled between the technician and the planner. Using the “explore” functionality, any asset within the database can be discovered and information such as services connected. Its position within a rack and its connection history can be viewed down to the level of individual ports within a panel.
TE’s Head of Data Center Business Line Management in EMEA, Alastair Waite, commented: “Many customers have a hybrid of new build and existing network infrastructure. With QR code functionality, visibility and control of the physical layer of the network can now be extended to existing installations, making the selection of a Quareo system a viable option for all those customers who are planning enhancements to existing networks”.
