DCG extends product portfolio with pay-as-you-go Long-Term Storage Services

Data management specialist offers low cost total cost of ownership for long-term digital storage.

Data Continuity Group is adding Long –Term Storage Service (LTSS) to its portfolio of managed service products to help organisations store rich-data for significant periods of time on a pay-as-you-use basis.

With skyrocketing growth in data volumes many organisations are struggling with long term digital asset management and preservation. DCG’s latest offering is a durable, multi-petabyte service based on EVault’s Long-Term Storage (LTS2). It can store rich data for months, years or even decades yet still provide immediate access to archived assets and guarantees long term data integrity.

For organisations in the broadcast and media industry who may need to store entire programmes or medical imaging companies who have to store X-ray films, on-going storage of large objects has traditionally been an expensive and complex headache. This new managed service eliminates up-front capital expenses, on-going operational costs and the management costs and changes associated with running an onsite, long-term data storage infrastructure and is replaced by a pay-as-you-use pricing structure. With managed service storage costs as little as £0.01 per gigabyte per month, LTSS is competitively priced alongside cheaper storage services – but with much faster retrieval times.

Alan Back, managing director, DCG said: “We are delighted to add LTSS to our growing portfolio of storage products we offer as a managed service.
“The management and storage of rich data is a costly and time consuming challenge for those organisations that need to store rich data for long periods of time.

“Our new service takes away this headache and allows an organisation to focus on its day-to-day business operations, rather than operating and maintaining their own archival storage infrastructure.”

As a fully managed service, DCG’s LTSS eliminates the complex and disruptive technology migrations traditionally required for long-term storage. The service is also backed by the industry’s most comprehensive SLAs for availability, data durability, portability, preservation and management.
The LTSS pricing model allows organisations to scale up or down as they need to and therefore avoid the cost and frustration of inaccurate capacity planning that can lead to over or under-provisioning.

LTSS makes long-term storage access as simple and immediate as accessing local data. The disk-based architecture enables on-demand access, unique among archival storage solutions. This cost effective service also safeguards data integrity far more effectively than tape or other cloud-based solutions as it is a disk-based solution which allows immediate access to data and replication capabilities.

LTSS is the latest addition to DCG’s growing managed service portfolio which includes data archiving, Endpoint protection, data backup, enterprise managed services, cloud backup and cloud disaster recovery.
