Phoenix achieves ISO 22301 standard demonstrating its commitment to driving best practice across BC

Phoenix has enhanced its Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) with news that it has become one of the first UK companies to achieve the new international business continuity standard ISO 22301.

ISO 22301 is the latest international requirement standard for business continuity management, which specifies the setting up and managing of an effective BCMS for any organisation, regardless of type or size.

Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance the leading independent provider of business assurance services carried out the certification audit. It has certified that Phoenix meets all the requirements of the standard, which applies to all of the Phoenix recovery centres across the UK, including the main administration office in Aston in the West Midlands.

Phoenix had already been certified against the earlier BS 25999 standard since 2010, and the realignment to the enhanced requirements of this new standard was a key next step. As an immediate response to achieving the standard the BC management team have now implemented a new programme to develop the BCMS further, committing Phoenix to future significant exercises and company awareness campaigns.

Mike Osborne, managing director of Phoenix Business Continuity Unit commented: “Over 1600 organisations including some of the largest household names, rely on our services to keep their data securely backed up and ready to recover, provide user access to their corporate systems during a business interruption and a place ready for staff to work from if they can’t access their usual office.

Now we’re accredited, we’re eager to work with our customers to help them achieve this important standard - to help plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and continually improve their BCM systems.”

“Achieving the standard is a fantastic milestone for us at Phoenix and clearly demonstrates to legislators, regulators, customers, prospective customers and other interested parties that we are committed to and continue to adhere to good practice in BCM.
