CDNetworks adds Point of Presence in Poland

Recognising the growth of Internet usage in Eastern Europe, CDNetworks has installed a point of presence (PoP) in Warsaw, Poland. Now, CDNetworks customers have direct access to Poland’s 25 million Internet users.

“CDNetworks has excellent coverage in Russia and Europe, but our customers wanted faster access to web users in Poland,” said Jeff Kim, President and COO, CDNetworks US/EMEA. “This new PoP provides reliability and high performance for consumer goods sites targeting this growing ecommerce market.”

Poland has the 6th largest Internet user base of the 28 EU countries according to Internet World Stats. At just 65% of the population, Poland’s Internet user base is growing. The research by web site Nokaut.pl estimates that the overall value of Poland's ecommerce market is now close to 5.2 billion euros with 72% of Internet users purchasing online. As reported by the Poland Ministry of Treasury, the Polish ecommerce market grew by nearly 23% YoY in 2012 and is likely to grow by 21.4% YoY in 2013. Online shoppers in Poland are most likely to buy electronic, cosmetics, films, books, and online games as stated by Euromonitor Rzeczpospolita.

According to a Jan. 2, 2014 Forrester Research, inc. report, Emerging Markets Overview: Poland, Forrester analysts stated, “With a population of 38 million, Poland is one of the largest European markets and holds a central position in Europe. The economy has enjoyed strong, consistent GDP growth in the past decade. And although the global economic crisis severely affected Europe, Poland is the only EU member state that hasn't gone into recession in recent years.”
