Delivering Enterprise Class Cloud solutions in Brazil

Leading IT data and infrastructure provider in Brazil and Virtustream partner to meet growing demand for secure, high performance cloud solutions.

Virtustream, Inc. has partnered with Universo Online (UOL), the largest internet services and online content company in Brazil, to deliver enterprise class cloud solutions to the country’s growing market. Already a high-profile public cloud provider, UOL selected Virtustream’s xStream cloud management software to expand its portfolio to offer secure, high-performance cloud solutions geared towards enterprise clients. In addition, UOL will incorporate xStream into its current public cloud solution in order optimise its resources through the consolidation of its cloud platform and infrastructure.

UOL Group is the leading internet services company in Brazil and the second largest media conglomerate in the country. UOL Diveo, an entity within the UOL Group, is Brazil's largest IT data and infrastructure provider. They have four data centres in Brazil, as well as a portfolio of more than 3,000 corporate clients and telecom access hubs across the country, which link some 1,800 points of presence. The company serves the enterprise market and offers a wide range of data center, telecommunications and integrated IT services.

“We are very pleased to support UOL’s entry into the enterprise class cloud market,” said Rodney Rogers, chairman and chief executive officer at Virtustream. “As Brazilian enterprises increasingly focus on gaining efficiencies and reducing costs through cloud solutions, this partnership will provide them with the efficiencies they seek and the enterprise grade security and performance they need, all delivered by a provider they already know and trust.”

After careful evaluation, UOL selected Virtustream’s xStream software because it exceeded the company’s criteria for a secure, scalable, enterprise class cloud. With xStream, UOL will be able to migrate its customers’ mission-critical applications to the cloud, while providing application performance SLAs, multi-tenant efficiency, and a consumption-based pricing model for both legacy (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft, etc.) and modern web-scale applications.

In addition to xStream, Virtustream will also provide advisory services for UOL. By leveraging Virtustream’s expertise in complex, mission-critical cloud deployments, UOL will be able to rapidly deploy their business model and a go-to-market strategy for the enterprise market.

“The demand for enterprise-grade cloud solutions is continuing to grow rapidly in Brazil, and we recognised the opportunity to expand on our existing UOL Cloud Infrastructure,” said Gil Torquato, chief executive officer of UOL Diveo. “Virtustream’s software offers the features and capabilities we need to ensure our enterprise customers are able to migrate their business-critical applications to the cloud, without concerns over security and compliance, performance or cost. Our cloud service portfolio, in conjunction with Virtustream’s xStream, will set the bar for the cloud market in Brazil.”
