Timico appoints Director for new cloud & hosting solutions unit

Timico has appointed Colin Bell as Director of Cloud and Hosting services.

Colin joins the team from today and will lead the newly formed Hosting Solutions business unit, delivering managed hosting, Infrastructure as a Service and business continuity solutions to businesses and partner customers across the UK. He will establish the London-based sales team and will be recruiting additional technical staff at Timico’s East Midlands and South coast data centres.

Colin has been working in hosting since the early days of the industry, initially as EMEA Sales Director for Rackspace and subsequently as Managing Director of business-critical managed hosting provider NetBenefit, part of Group NBT plc. Prior to this he has held sales and marketing leadership roles in various fast growing technology companies.

Timico Chairman Tim Radford said: “Businesses of all sizes are moving to the cloud, but mid-sized organisations are not being well served. There are concerns about service levels, configurability and data sovereignty.

“We believe our ability to provide bespoke private clouds, integrated with managed networks and unified communication solutions give businesses an unrivalled level of performance, flexibility and service. It’s testament to our company that we have recruited someone of Colin’s calibre to lead our converged cloud proposition.”

Since opening its Tier 3 data centre in Newark in January 2012, Timico now hosts infrastructure for customers including Associated British Ports and The Carbon Trust.

Oracle managed service provider Claremont has also completed a major project to migrate the National Trust’s Oracle E-Business CRM system, comprising 3.5TB of data for its four million members into Timico’s data centres and integrated PCI compliant network. Claremont, through their partnership with Timico, has been able to deliver significant improvements in performance, reliability and overall cost for the National Trust.
Timico offers co-location, managed servers, disaster recovery, Enterprise Private Cloud and Virtual Data Centre services embedded within Timico’s national MPLS network, guaranteeing 99.999% availability of network and platform.
