Use of database monitoring tools rises to record high, monitoring survey reveals

Over three quarters (79%) of database professionals are now using either a paid-for or in-house monitoring tool, a survey from Redgate Software has shown. This is an increase of 10 percentage points from the same survey last year and, at the same time, the 86% satisfaction rate with paid-for monitoring tools is also an all-time high, up 18 percentage points on the previous year.

Big data spending to reach $50 million this year

European spending on Big Data and business analytics (BDA) solutions is forecast to reach $50 billion this year, an increase of 7% over 2020, according to a new update to the Worldwide Big Data and Analytics Spending Guide from International Data Corporation (IDC). The forecast also shows that BDA spending will gain strength over the next five years as the European economy recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic. The compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for European BDA spending over the 2021–2025 forecast period will be 11%.
