Cisco has released the findings of a global study that indicates cloud is moving into a second wave of adoption, with companies no longer focusing just on efficiency and reduced costs, but rather looking to cloud as a platform to fuel innovation, growth and disruption. Velostrata, provider of on-demand hybrid cloud software, has formally launched what it says is the industry’s first real-time hybrid cloud solution. Velostrata’s unique technology decouples compute from storage, enabling enterprises to stream production workloads to and from the cloud in minutes, leave the storage on-premises and optimize performance end-to-end. The product is currently in beta with large and mid-size enterprise companies.

The SimpliVity solution enables high availability and disaster recovery for a variety of public safety applications, including 911 dispatch and video surveillance systems, and for other business-critical systems such as Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases.

Tangoe has launched its new cloud discovery service, MatrixCloud Cloud Discovery, which is designed to detect, analyse, and optimise an enterprise’s sanctioned and unsanctioned public cloud environment, which includes Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS). According to a recent survey by IDG, 60% of respondents did not feel confident in regards to the level of visibility into the actual cost of existing cloud deployments.
