Global Switch, the leading owner and operator of large scale cloud and carrier neutral data centre space in Europe and Asia-Pacific, has commenced construction of the last two stages of its Sydney East data centre following a pre-commitment made by a leading cloud provider. The new data centre is located on Global Switch’s Sydney campus adjacent to the Sydney Central Business District (CBD) and next to its existing Sydney West data centre.

Biagini recently retired from GE, where he focused on modernising infrastructure, expanding employee services and deploying secure cloud technology for use by GE's employees, customers and partners. Biagini's career has spanned 35 years in technology covering manufacturing, logistics and financial systems across the healthcare, media, aviation and energy verticals.

The data centre industry is ideally placed to reap the rewards of the growing high performance computing (HPC) market according to Greg McCulloch, CEO of Aegis Data. But in order for this to be achieved, McCulloch warns, significant investment in existing infrastructures is going to be critical in order to future-proof a facility against growing data volumes.
