Motability Operations deploys cloud-first managed solution to provide 24x7x365 support

Due to increased project and BAU activity, Motability Operations needed to be more responsive and expansive towards its customers. The current Motability Operations’ IT team did not have the capacity to accommodate these workloads. Scalability and a 24X7X365 capability was needed and by working closely with NetApp, this challenge was resolved.

Firstly, the NetApp Account Team and Managed Services teams worked to understand Motability Operations’ business challenges and create a solution to meet their needs. Then Managed Services was able to leverage their existing NetApp Efficiency Optimisation Services to understand the technical configuration, identify potential risks and implement a continuous improvement plan, which involved a seamless handover from Motability Operations to NetApp.

Robert Prosser, of Motability Operations said: “One of the great benefits of engaging NetApp was moving the storage environment into NetApp’s expert and capable hands and allowing us to focus our internal resources away from back-office activities. “NetApp’s extensive knowledge and understanding coupled with a 24x7x365 fully managed solution has enabled Motability Operations’ successful digital transformation process. “

NetApp’s Operate service from Managed Services brought to the table a 24x7x365 fully managed solution for this customer for a three-year deal at net neutral cost. Moving to NetApp also de-risked the solution for this client by moving the administration and management from a few resources to many.

Rob Prosser, Infrastructure Manage Motability said: “Legacy systems can sometimes be overlooked during digital transformation strategies. At Motability Operations, we were aware of the parallel challenges that would exist during projects. It was essential that Legacy systems were able to keep pace with the digital strategy. Upgrades through the route to production can require significant resource, our partners at NetApp were able to cater for these requests and all at business-friendly hours.”

According to Chris Greenwood, NetApp UK&I managing director, ‘Motability Operations supports Motability, a leading charity which helps support the lives of over 630,000 people within the UK. We are delighted to support the organisation meet its wider aims and continue to provide an unbeatable service to those who need it most.”
